At Union Square Practice, we offer Telehealth services via online video sessions with your provider. Wherever you live in New York State—or another state where one of our providers is licensed—you can access expert, integrated mental health services from the comfort of your own home, or whatever location works best for you.
Individuals and groups can both take advantage of telehealth sessions. Video sessions run on a HIPAA-compliant version of Zoom that you can join with a smartphone, laptop, tablet, or desktop computer.
The most prominent benefit of telehealth is the ability to access clinical services at a distance. This allows a provider and patient to connect to each other from anywhere (home, office, car, etc.). Another benefit is that it reduces the need to commute to a physical appointment, making it easier to get access to the support you need.
It is our understanding that most, if not all, private carriers are expanding their coverage of telepsychiatry and telemental health. Still, please check with your carrier to learn about your specific out-of-network benefits regarding telehealth.
Before your appointment, patients will receive a unique link to their provider’s waiting room that they can click to join prior to their appointment. Below are the steps to access your appointment:
We recommend that you enter your provider’s Zoom waiting room 5 minutes in advance so that your session can start on time. In order to get the most out of your appointments, we highly recommend the following:
This really depends on the individual. Some people prefer meeting in person, whether for the experience of being physically present with their therapist, being in a place free of distractions, or other reasons. Other people find the comfort and accessibility of telehealth invaluable to their mental health journey.
Yes, USP’s telehealth sessions take place on a HIPAA-compliant version of Zoom to ensure optimal privacy and security for our clients. This includes enhanced user authentication controls and end-to-end encryption of video, audio, and chat content.
