What should I expect in our first session?
You can expect me to take my time getting to know you and your child, really listening to you, and making you both feel as comfortable as possible (I recognize how difficult this process can be). I will ask you what you hope to get from treatment, carefully assess how I can help, and figure out if and how you would like to proceed. If we move forward, we will work together to create an evidence-based treatment plan that fits your specific needs and goals.
How do you describe your therapeutic approach?
I would say my approach is supportive, humanistic, and strengths-based: I believe you have the ability to make choices that allow you to thrive, and I’m here to help you practice and reinforce that ability. I am dedicated to providing comprehensive, holistic, and individualized care to each of my clients. I will meet you where you are and invite you into a shared decision-making process.
What inspired you to get into counseling?
I have always been interested in what makes people tick: from creative arts expression to forensics, I am fascinated by human behavior. I also had a very positive experience with counseling as a new parent in my early twenties, so it all seemed to unfold naturally and just make sense. I have always wanted to help others, and I think connecting with and empowering clients is one of the richest ways to do this.
What’s something your clients might be surprised to learn about you?
After college I trained as an actress in NYC at the Neighborhood Playhouse. I adore musical theater and have a “Hope you like musicals” welcome mat.
What is a self-care ritual you practice?
Yoga! I can’t sing its praises enough. I also love taking walks while listening to audiobooks or podcasts, eating popcorn and watching Netflix, snuggling with my kids, and indulging in a face mask.
