What should I expect in our first session?
Our first session together is about getting to know one another and making you feel
comfortable in the space. I’ll share a bit about my background and approach, and I encourage
you to tell me about yourself, your interests, and what brings you to counseling. As we begin, I’ll
meet you where you are. Whether you’ve been in counseling before or are testing it out for
the first time, I’ll go at your pace. Together, we’ll outline what sessions typically look like and
how we can work collaboratively to reach your goals.
What’s the most rewarding part of your job?
Seeing people create positive and meaningful changes in their lives, and having the privilege to
accompany them in their journeys. It’s incredibly fulfilling to witness someone’s transformation and growth, whether it be overcoming a specific issue, improving their overall well-being, or finding more effective ways to cope with life’s many inherent challenges. Knowing that I played a role in this, whether as a guide or simply a sounding board, motivates me to continue supporting people as best I can.
What inspired you to get into counseling?
I experienced going to counseling myself for the first time in college and it helped me navigate the transition to life away from home. It provided a space where I could be myself and feel truly heard, two things I now prioritize in my work with others. Because of my own struggles as a collegiate athlete, I developed a passion for supporting athletes and performers. Witnessing how profoundly counseling could help people become better versions of themselves inspired my desire to make it my career.
In another life, if you weren’t working in counseling, what would you be doing?
One of my greatest passions is traveling. The feeling of exploring new places, while learning
about new cultures and different ways of living, is truly unique. A couple of trips per year keep me grounded!
