What should I expect in our first session?
You should expect to be greeted with a warm smile and listened to attentively. I will ask questions to learn about your health and family history and gain a thorough understanding of what you are seeking in treatment. I will also share a bit about my approach to treatment and setting goals.
What’s the most rewarding part of your job?
The most rewarding part of my job is forming meaningful connections with patients and colleagues and finding creative ways of helping people along their journey.
What inspired you to get into counseling?
My mom, who I admire greatly, is an art therapist. At the family dinner table, we frequently talked about her work, and I would ask her all sorts of questions about the strategies she used to help her patients. I saw the impact of her commitment to her work and wanted to pursue a similar profession.
In another life, if you weren’t working in counseling, what would you be doing?
If I wasn’t working in counseling, I would be an ER doctor. Before I came to Union Square Practice, I spent seven years working in a psychiatric hospital. I love the pace and team dynamic in a hospital setting!
What is a self-care ritual you practice?
I try to take a weekly walk with a friend. It allows me to unwind from my busy life and stay connected to those I care about!
