Isabelle Boundy

LMSW

I am a licensed master social worker and psychotherapist. I work with children, teens, adults, and perinatal women struggling with adjustment, anxiety, depression, and other difficulties that arise during major life transitions. My approach is holistic, dynamic, and rooted in relational theory, a therapeutic perspective that emphasizes the important role relationships play in our mental health. My work with children is play-based and aimed at strengthening the child’s capacity to regulate and communicate their emotions in developmentally-appropriate ways.

How would you describe your therapeutic approach?

My approach is psychodynamic and relational, exploring the roles our past and present relationships play in our mental wellbeing. I also integrate aspects of evidenced-based behavioral interventions such as DBT and CBT.

I work collaboratively with clients to identify and target their most pressing present concerns, then we explore their personal history to make crucial connections. I believe our past experiences and early relationships hold the data we need to help us better understand our present-day coping systems and internal narratives. With this insight, we can make lasting change within ourselves and our relationships.

In another life, if you weren’t working in counseling, what would you be doing?

I would probably be a writer or a culture commentator so I could read and watch TV for a living.

What is a self-care ritual you practice?

Reality TV is my guilty pleasure. But, if I’m not watching Bravo, The Traitors, or the latest reality dating show, I’m probably rewatching The Office or Veep for the umpteenth time.
